Berry Blue Honeyberry
Zone 3a-8b
Native to Siberia, which means it is super cold-hardy and a great for northern gardens, the Berry Blue Honeyberry is a relatively new introduction just starting to catch on in America that is great for use in the edible landscape.
The berries are excellent for fresh eating or in making jams. It's in the honeysuckle family but produces sweet and tangy delicious and healthy blue fruits packed with vitamins and antioxidants that are similar in flavor to blueberries and currants.
Abundant creamy soft-yellow flowers bloom early in spring followed in late spring to early summer by equally abundant elongated blue berries, when pollinated with another early-blooming variety. Berry Blue quickly grows 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide that serves well as a grouping or hedge in the fruit garden or the ornamental landscape.
